The SWC medium-sized cardan shafts is mainly suitable for mechanical application scenarios such as rolling mills, piercing machines, straightening machines, crushers, and ship drives. It is a widely used product series of cardan shafts. Its flange diameter ranges from 160 mm to 620 mm, the transmitted rated torque ranges from 16 kN·m to 1000 kN·m, and the axis deflection angle is 15°.

II. Structural Features:

By leveraging the characteristics of its mechanism, the universal coupling enables the two connected shafts to rotate continuously and reliably transmit torque and motion even when the two shafts are not on the same axis and there is an included angle between the axes.
The medium-sized universal coupling is characterized by compact structure, large transmission torque, long service life, and the ability to be used in harsh working conditions for a long time.

III. Selection and Maintenance:

In accordance with the JB5513-91 standard, the selection of SWC-Ⅰ and SWC type cardan shafts is carried out with reference to the following methods:

Notes:

Under normal circumstances, the universal coupling is selected based on the transmitted torque and bearing life. Alternatively, according to the specific application requirements of the mechanical equipment, only one of the torsional strength check or bearing life check may be performed.
When there is an axis deflection angle of the coupling in both the horizontal and vertical planes simultaneously, the resultant axis deflection angle shall also be calculated.
Under some special operating environments, the requirements for operating speed and dynamic balance of the cardan shafts shall be considered during the selection stage.
The cross-shaft type cardan shafts shall be comprehensively selected based on relevant factors such as load characteristics, calculated torque, bearing life, and operating speed.
