Common Types of Drive Shaft Components
Drive shaft components refer to the various parts required to assemble a drive shaft. The main ones include universal joints, shaft sleeves, and telescopic sleeves. Shaft SleeveDesigned to reduce friction and wear during shaft movement, it serves essentially the same purpose as a bearing but is relatively low-cost. However, due to its higher frictional resistance, it is only applied to certain components. Universal JointTypically composed of a cross shaft, cross bearings, and yokes, it primarily accommodates changes in the angle between the transmission output shaft and the drive axle input shaft, while enabling constant-velocity power transmission between the two shafts. Telescopic SleeveIn the conventional drive shaft design, the splined sleeve is welded to the yoke, and the splined shaft is welded to the drive shaft tube. The new-type drive shaft abandons this traditional structure: the splined sleeve is welded integrally with the drive shaft tube, and the splined shaft is integrated with the yoke.Additionally, the rectangular spline is replaced with a short-tooth involute spline with a large pressure angle. This design not only increases strength but also facilitates extrusion forming, meeting the requirements of high-torque operating conditions.
